NYC SEPTEMBER HEATWAVE POSSIBLE
NYC SEPTEMBER HEATWAVE POSSIBLE – Good morning everyone. Jose continues to spin off our coast and Hurricane Maria is looking to start her trek north, but the biggest story today will be the summer heat as we start fall.
Most of NYC did see 80-85 yesterday, but it didn’t feel like it with the stiff breeze and lack of sun. Today, we’ll have a little more sun than yesterday as Jose finally starts to break apart cloud-wise. We’ll achieve low 80’s today and it’ll feel warmer as well.
Tomorrow, we’ll warm up fast with a very light, northerly wind helping to create some sinking air. This will help temps soar into the mid to upper 80’s. I also wouldn’t be surprised if we saw some scattered 90° reports in some of the more notoriously warmer spots. The same goes for Sunday and Monday, with lots of sunshine and relatively hot temps.
After Monday, temps remain unseasonably warm, but we cool off slightly and begin the cooling down process late week as more fall-like temps and crisp night’s move in.
However, looking ahead, this may be short lived as I see heat trying to build back into the Midwest that could drift east. This could set us up for an “Indian Summer” if we see our first frost, then this warm weather builds back in.
Stay tuned for the long range, but for now, surfers will have a real treat with Jose & Maria generated surf, and warm temps combined.
