Hot Humid and Thundery NYC Through Late Week

Good afternoon everyone. Hot and humid air is on the return to NYC as remnants of Hurricane Beryl push up the Mississippi Valley and into the Ohio Valley. We’re looking at near 90 degree temps with tropical dew points and thundery conditions starting tomorrow up and down the East Coast. We won’t see rain and storms all of the time, but each day will come with the chance of PM heavy thunderstorms, some of which could push the severe limits.

Speaking of Beryl, we still have a tropical storm on our hands as winds have weakened to approx. 60mph. Copious amounts of rain have already fallen, and a tornado watch remains in effect for parts of Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. Expect those tornado watches to move along with our system as it merges with the front steering it now. Flooding rains, damaging winds, and severe weather will follow a clear path into Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, and eventually Ohio.

Our biggest concern right now remains flooding rains and numerous brief tornadoes that can dot the landscape with localized heavy damage to roofs, cars, and trees.

Look for mid 80’s and sunshine for the remainder of today, then increased humidity and near 90 temps tomorrow. We’ll also have the chance of PM showers and storms under a mix of sun and clouds.

WEATHER RADAR

Expect more sun & clouds both Wednesday and Thursday with more near 90 temps. Each day will have the chance of PM showers and storms, but Thursday and Friday will have the best chance. We “cool off” a bit on Friday with mid to upper 80’s, but humidity remains.
