Good morning everyone. We wound up with a decent Easter Sunday yesterday after some morning sprinkles, but now it’s back to reality with our system that just won’t go away yet. The good news is that our week isn’t looking as gloomy and we have a very beautiful day in store for us tomorrow.
For today, one more piece of energy has to exit the region in the form of a compact low pressure system. Don’t expect much yet, but sunshine will help add fuel to the fire and we should see some showers and storms developing today by late morning/early afternoon. Most of the concentrated action should be out east, especially in eastern Suffolk, but we could get in on the action.
When things do get going, the rain and thunder should be scattered, squally, and breezy in nature; more tropical-like than anything else. In some spots, individual cells could even drop a few pieces of pea-size hail. I’ll even go as far to say that don’t be surprised if someone on the water, especially offshore, sends a video of a waterspout today. Highs today should be in the mid 60’s, maybe a few upper 60 hits if we get some extra sunshine.
Any remaining action should begin to fizzle out after sunset today, with just some parting showers up until around midnight or so. Then, things finally start to pull away slowly, paving the way for a beautiful day tomorrow.
We start if with maybe more clouds than sun early tomorrow, then we should see a nice window of full sunshine from mid-morning to late afternoon. This will help heat of the atmosphere nicely for a mild and comfortable day with low humidity. Highs tomorrow 70-75 in most areas aside from the immediate shore.
A weak area of energy may bring a few scattered light showers overnight tomorrow, but then we begin the drying out process on Wednesday after a cloudy start. We may even see some sunshine on Wednesday if we can clear this out fast enough; highs in the mid to upper 60’s.
For Thursday, full sunshine and light winds are possible, but we’ll be on the “cool” side of this airmass. Regardless, we’ll still achieve average temps this time of year with mid 60’s. Clouds increase Thursday night with our next weak system, and we could see some showers Friday. Again, no total washouts, just weak systems transiting the area giving us periods of clouds and showers.
As long as everything keeps moving, our weekend looks sunny, dry, and seasonable temp-wise.
Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
