More Scattered Heavy Storms Expected

Good morning everyone. We have a lot going on this week with a wide range of conditions, plus a fairly nice holiday weekend forecast ahead for the 4th of July.

SATELLITE

Low pressure continues to spin in the Northeast and not expected to fully leave the area as far as its influence until late Thursday. This will give the atmosphere enough juice each afternoon, especially today and tomorrow, to touch off scattered strong to severe storms. Not everyone will see the action, but for those who do, could be in store for some more locally severe conditions, with damaging winds, small to large hail, and torrential downpours.

Highs will be in the low to mid 80’s today, with clouds building in the afternoon, and we’ll have that chance for scattered storms this afternoon and evening.

REGIONAL RADAR

The same goes for tomorrow, with morning sun, afternoon clouds, low to mid 80’s, and the chance of more scattered strong to severe storms come afternoon. Hail remains the biggest threat with these individual cells.

On Thursday we begin to dry out as temps reach the upper 80’s to possibly near 90, but there will still be enough energy to touch off some scattered storms. This time around they will be even more widely scattered, but anyone who does see one, could be in for a brief wild ride.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

For your holiday weekend, we dry out fully, but Friday will be a hot one with 90-95 degree temps. Saturday and Sunday look seasonal, with clouds & sun and low to mid 80’s for highs.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

Overall, we are locked in this summery pattern and the moisture will return next week as far as afternoon storms. There are also signs we could get a little heatwave going mid week next week, but we’ll have to see if that plays out. I don’t see 100 degree temps, but a short to medium stretch of mid 90’s is on the table.
