Nasty Weather Continues For The Northeast

Good afternoon everyone. For those who missed the live broadcast 30 minutes ago, NYC and the Northeast continues to have a rough time with this pattern in terms of rain coming in and out of the area. This pattern wants to continue even though low pressure systems are slowing down, so don’t expect any prolonged mild air or dry air in the next couple of weeks.

SATELLITE

A large shield of rain has moved in, up, and to the north of the NYC/Long Island are, but we remain socked in with the clouds. Low pressure to our west will eventually swing east, sending small spokes of energy our way. These will touch off some scattered showers and maybe even a few rumbles. Highs today are where they’re at, so expect mid to upper 40’s and that’s that.

REGIONAL RADAR

Mid to upper 40’s continue for tomorrow as that low pressure helps keep chilly air down at the surface. We’ll have clouds and on & off showers in the area.

Tuesday will probably be the best day of the week as we dry out, introduce some scattered sunshine, and highs near 60.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

Clouds begin to creep in again some time on Wednesday ahead of a warm front, but we should remain dry for most of the day. Look for increasing clouds, the slight chance of a late shower, and highs near 60 again.

Rain moves back in for Thursday ahead of the bulk of our next system, and we’ll be on the “mild” side of this system with highs near 60 once again. We’ll begin that drying out process again mid to late Friday and low 60’s, then Saturday could be a great day for your first weekend in May; with lots of sunshine and mid 60’s.

IF we can hold onto some sunshine next Sunday, we might reach the upper 60’s to near 70, but there’s a lot that needs to happen and a lot of “ifs”.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

More rain possibly heads in next Monday, or at minimum, cloudy conditions. We are having a rough time breaking this pattern, and I know it seems like I keep kicking the can down the road, but maybe mid-May we will finally see a break.

MANY THANKS TO TROPICAL TIDBITS FOR THE USE OF MAPS

Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
