New York City Rain Free Till Wednesday

Good morning everyone. Hopefully everyone enjoyed that earthquake and aftershock in the Northeast yesterday. The good news is that we got all of the bad stuff out of the way before the weekend, and things are looking really nice for most of the East Coast. The bad news is that severe storms and tornadic activity is set to blossom again in parts of Nebraska, South Dakota, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, NE Texas, and Missouri.

We’ll get the party started by this afternoon, with a thin line of severe weather firing up and moving through Nebraska, Kansas, and South Dakota. These storms will be capable of damaging hail, tornadoes, and strong straight-line winds. That line should fizzle out, then re-fire this evening/overnight in Oklahoma, NE Texas, and Arkansas before racing ENE. We’ll be watching for the same threats with that secondary line of severe weather.

Our weather system will slowly grind to the east and fizzle out before starting to regenerate on Monday, just in time for the eclipse. In many spots where totality is expected, clouds may impact the view as our front slowly re-energizes and a wave of low pressure emerges from SW Texas. Steady rain and heavy storms are expected to move across the Gulf States, then make a beeline for the Great Lakes as a fairly hefty low pressure system. That’ll bring more rain and raw temps to the Northeast on Wednesday and Thursday, but not before 2 amazing days weather-wise Monday & Tuesday.

Expect sun & clouds today with the slight chance of a popcorn shower. Highs in the low 50’s will make for a cool day. Some extra sunshine returns tomorrow and we will be dry, highs in the low to mid 50’s.

WEATHER RADAR

Milder air breaks out on Monday with mid 60’s and full sunshine. Tuesday looks even milder as temps may reach or notch a little past 70. Clouds will increase late, but that won’t impact your Tuesday.

On & off rain returns on Wednesday with raw conditions in the 50’s. Look for more rain on Thursday before we go blustery, sunny, and cool on Friday.
