NYC Air Quality Issues Return

Good morning everyone. Smoke has returned to the area with a vengeance courtesy of low pressure leaving the area. The return flow is blowing perfectly over the area in Canada impacted by the wildfires, and wafting smoke across the Great Lakes region and into the Northeast. We’ll have to deal with this for 2 days, then clouds and on & off showers and storms return Saturday and Sunday.

For today, we’ll have smoked-veiled sunshine and poor air quality issues. Highs will be warm today with mid 80’s and relatively decent humidity.

We’ll have a repeat performance tomorrow with more mid 80’s and haze/smoke. Humidity will also creep up as our next system nears.

WEATHER RADAR

Over the weekend, clouds return and so do the showers and storms. Once again, we won’t have any full washouts, but we can get heavy showers and rumbles at any time. Look for highs in the low 80’s both Saturday and Sunday.

Looking into next week, the showers and storms stick around. We may see a window of some extra sunshine Tuesday – Wednesday, and that may boost into the near 90 realm.
