Good morning everyone. As our latest system passes, we begin a winter reset as the pattern changes once again towards a more active one. As stated last week, we were watching this expected system pass while keeping a close eye on the Gulf. As a reinforcing shot of cold air swoops down, we were looking to see if a wave of low pressure forms near the Gulf Coast; then getting picked up by that arctic piece of energy.
While it won’t play out exactly like that, a version of it does. The reinforcing shot of cold air happens, and some moisture begins to build along the Gulf; but everything happens about 200-300 more to the east, and weaker in nature. However, some slight merging or merging does occur; just a little bit on the “late” side, How much merging occurs, when, and how strong, will dictate how late in the week goes. The stronger the merge and the strong the system, the better chance for cold air to get pulled down through the atmosphere for an all-snow/mostly snow event. If it is weaker, we could see some rain and snow, changing to all snow before tapering off.
Not to get ahead of ourselves, but we see a similar scenario building for later in the weekend in terms of a reinforcing shot of cold air meeting up with Gulf energy. Could we see a one-two punch in the form of a pawing jab and hard right hook? Stay tuned.
Check out the latest on your workweek forecast below.
Look for clearing skies and falling temps today as our system passes by quickly. It’ll be a blustery say as temps fall into the 30’s.
To start your workweek, look for sunshine, more blustery conditions, and highs in the upper 30’s to low 40’s. We’ll rinse and repeat again on Tuesday, with lighter winds allowing mid 40’s for highs.
We’ll begin to cloud up on Wednesday as our piece-meal systems slowly drags our way Look for the slight chance of showers with highs 45-50. For Thursday, we’ll have the chance of some rain, mixing with snow later in the day/overnight. Highs 35-40. As of snow, precipitation by most models is depicted as light and of mixed variety, but that may change as we wait to see what the two ingredients do, where, and when.
Please note that with regards to any severe weather, tropical storms, or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
