NYC AM Snow Possible Tuesday

Good morning everyone. We have a cold start to the day today and things remain cold/chilly throughout the weekend. Our next system is due in overnight Monday into Tuesday, possibly touching off some onset snows before mixing with and changing to rain. Other than that, things look relatively uneventful for the NYC Metro Area. Check out the latest below…

SATELLITE

Look for a mix of sun and clouds today, light winds, and highs in the mid to upper 30’s at best. Winds increase overnight and more clouds roll in. No precipitation is expected, but we’ll have a mostly cloudy morning with stiff northwesterlies tomorrow. Sunshine returns with highs in the 40-45 range.

WEATHER RADAR

Mid to upper 30’s return for Monday as a reinforcing shot of cold air heads back in. A warm front will approach the area with some overrunning precipitation ahead of it. Expect light snow to begin sometime late overnight Monday. When it begins will dictate is snow sticks or not on the onset. With lows near freezing, if it begins later than sooner, the ground will be wet instead of white aside from branches, grass, and colder surfaces.

As the warm front lifts through, snow will mix with rain Tuesday morning, then all rain and mid 40’s for highs. We’re not expecting anything big here, but don’t be surprised to see a trace to 2″ of snow, especially N&W of NYC.

Things clear out on Wednesday and mid 40’s return. Christmas Eve looks spot-on average, with lows in the upper 20’s to low 30’s. We could see a few showers Christmas Day with highs in the mid to upper 40’s.
