Good morning folks. We have a cloudy start today as expected, but we’ll break out into a fairly nice weekend as things get going here in NYC. Meanwhile, we could slip in a seasonably warm day here on Monday in the NYC area if everything times out perfectly, but that’s a big if.
Clouds and patchy drizzle will eventually give way to clouds and sun, then more sun than clouds. That light northwesterly flow I’ve been talking about holds true today, and we’ll rebound easily into the mid 60’s for a beautiful day.
Tomorrow will be a repeat with mid 60’s and sunshine, but we introduce clouds later in the day. However, a little bit of a seabreeze at the coast keeps things a little cooler at the immediate shore. Clouds lower and thicken overnight tomorrow, and we bring the rain in a touch earlier with showery conditions starting well before sunrise. This will help set us up for a possible warm one on Monday.
As of now, it looks as if the weak cold front hangs back on Monday while the first wave of precipitation is out of here by late morning. If that’s the case, then at minimum we’ll see a mostly cloudy to cloudy day, with highs near 70 & humid as we straddle the warm sector of this system.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on things though, because if we can introduce some extra sunshine, we can easily bust out well into the 70’s.
As with many of our other system this year so far, cool air is delayed one day and we’re looking at a breezy and mild Tuesday; highs in the mid 60’s. Then we cool off Wednesday with slightly below average temps. We’ll have another system late week, but we’ll focus on that when the week starts.
In the long range, we remain active and warmer conditions all hang on how west and north the center of these systems go. The midwest is starting to warm up nicely; so if we get something going well into Canada where there’s no question how far north the warm clears our area, we can see some 70’s to near 80 temps before month’s end. Stay tuned.
Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
