NYC Coldest Air of the Season Upon Us

Good afternoon everyone and Happy Super Bowl Sunday. I for one am rooting for the Mets, but I think the Islanders could take them by a free-throw at the buzzer in round 12. Dangerously cold air is locked into the region as lows dipped into the negative realm Upstate overnight, and low single digits across NYC and Long Island. Things will modify this week back into the cold realm/slightly below average, but eyes will be on next weekend for a possible system lurking the East Coast.

What you see is what you get today as it’ll be very hard to recover from the bitter cold last night. Look for blustery conditions with highs in the 10-15 degree range. Tonight we dip back into the upper single digits to low teens.

WEATHER RADAR

We make a decent recover tomorrow, but remain below freezing with highs in the 25-30 range. Look for mid 30’s for the rest of the workweek; chance of some scattered flurries Tuesday PM.

For next weekend, we’ll be watching a possible system come out of the Rockies and hook up with some Gulf moisture. It could be one of those systems that get’s compressed south, but we’ll look at it very closely in case it tries to make it up the coast. At minimum and as discussed last week, I think parts of the Southeast could be in line for some heavy rain and/or severe weather. If things do materialize and it slides offshore, the Mid-Atlantic could once again be in line for some snow.

Stay tuned.
