NYC Continues to Watch Possible Coastal Storm

Good morning everyone. Eyes continue on the late-weekend forecast as the GFS continues to hold onto the idea of a major winter storm for the Mid-Atlantic, plus a brushing hit to the Northeast. The EURO has a more quiet scenario as everything slips well offshore before any deepening occurs. Regardless, we have to watch things closely even if parts of Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and south Jersey seem like the main target if things unfold.

SATELLITE

Look for a cloudy and chilly one today as we await our next system for overnight tonight into tomorrow. Highs will be in the low 40’s at best.

WEATHER RADAR

We’ll have light to moderate rain tomorrow with another raw day near 40 degrees. Saturday remains the “nicest” day of the stretch, with morning sun and increasing clouds late. This will be ingredient number 1 of this potential system.

Energy left over from tomorrow’s system will swing spoke of energy around in a north-to-south fashion, possibly drawing up energy stalled across the Southeast. If both ingredients merge, look for heavy snow to break out across areas mentioned in the Mid-Atlantic. If the energy phases and how far north it goes, are the 2 questions of the hour. While I don’t think this is going to be a “nowcast”, I do believe we have to hold off another day or so to see what’s behind tomorrow’s system.
