NYC Cool Holiday Weekend With Rainy Start Dry Finish

Good morning everyone. We have a busy forecast here with a lot of changes over the course of a 5 day period, starting off with a beautiful day today, and ending with a beautiful but cool Memorial Day. Much needed rain is on the way, and we’ll get that out of the way rather early during the stretch.

Today in my mind is the most beautiful day of the week. We’ll have sunny skies, low humidity, a steady NW flow, and highs in the low to mid 80’s.

Clouds start to move in tomorrow morning, then light showers will commence by late afternoon/early evening. It’ll be cool with highs near 70 in NYC, and mid to upper 60’s for Long Island. Overnight tomorrow, rain gets heavy at times with the chance of a few rumbles. This is courtesy of a wave forming along the system before it departs. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see 1-2″ of rain out of this, possibly causing some localized flooding in poor drainage areas.

Saturday is the “worst” day of the holiday weekend, with very cool, almost chilly conditions. A few showers will hang on the AM hours, but clouds will stick around and we’ll be lucky to see low 60’s. Don’t be surprised if some areas only see upper 50’s as highs.

For Sunday, clouds stick around and then we could see a few blue patches by the afternoon. We remain very cool with highs in the mid to upper 60’s. Memorial Day on Monday looks great, but we still remain on the cool side. Expect full sunshine and highs in the upper 60’s to low 70’s.
