Good gloomy morning everyone. Clouds, drizzle, and raw conditions will be with us all day today as we reset for our next round of rain in the New York City area. Meanwhile, hopes for an all-out, blockbuster snowstorm fade away as the Never-ending Story of getting excited too early continues.
Northeast winds, clouds, and drizzle, will give the area an authentic November feel today as we go above average into the mid to upper 40’s, but won’t quite feel that way. Rain returns tonight, and we may even hear a few rumbles of thunder.
For tomorrow, rain and the chance of a rumble or two continue into late morning/early afternoon; then we’ll slowly clear out. Cooler air will begin to head in, but not before we achieve a gusty low to mid 50’s.
For our weekend, Saturday and Sunday continue to look seasonably cold, but Sunday is looking like the better day as winds calm down. Expect windy conditions Saturday with highs in the mid 30’s, then mid to upper 30’s on Sunday with a lighter breeze.
To start next week, we’ll have clouds and sun Monday with temps in the upper 30’s to low 40’s, then clouds increase as our next system arrives.
We talked about this yesterday and my view remains the same on our early to mid-week system. Unless anything big changes from what I see, at best we see a brief period of frozen precip before things quickly change to rain. We might not even see any frozen precip in the NYC area depending on the final system path and if our cold air is too shallow.
Our pattern and system path is not conducive right now to maintaining any all-snow events. We’ll keep an eye out for any changes down the road, but this pattern is extremely stubborn; sending everything well north, well south, and/or quickly out to sea from west to east.
Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
