NYC Jekyll and Hyde Mother’s Day Weekend

Good morning everyone. As advertised, today was going to be a beautiful day here in the New York City area. We also knew tomorrow wasn’t looking too well, but we couldn’t narrow in on the timing of the precipitation. Now that we can, we know that tomorrow is pretty much completely ruined and raw.

EASTERN SATELLITE

For a week now, we’ve been telling you to make your outdoor plans for today, and if you look outside, you can see why. Expect more sun than clouds late morning till mid to late afternoon, then more clouds than sun as we head towards sunset. Highs today in the upper 60’s to low 70’s with a dry, steady, northwesterly flow.

REGIONAL RADAR

Overnight, clouds and showers head in late, most likely before sunrise tomorrow. It looks as if we’ll have a morning round of steady rain, then a break in between batches. However, this “break” will be a cloudy, raw, drizzly one, before more rain returns some time early to mid afternoon. Highs tomorrow a damp and dismal low 50’s with a steady NE breeze.

Periods of rain continue overnight tomorrow and into Monday as small waves of energy transit the area. That raw NE breeze continues, which will hamper temps and keep things in the low 50’s.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

We finally begin to pull out of this mess on Tuesday, but not before another round of drizzle and light rain. It still won’t be a nice day, but the drying-out process should begin late. It’ll be cloudy as we climb back into the upper 50’s, maybe low 60’s if we see a late sliver of sun.

Mid week on Wednesday looks like a fine day as the sun returns, but another weak system approaches for Thursday. This one should pull away in a timely manner and we may finish with a nice Friday. Next weekend has the potential to be nice and mild/warm, but we have to wait and see if that pesky maritime air fights back or not.

I think our best opportunity to get a fairly accurate look at the weekend, will be once we get this schmutz out here on Tuesday; so stay tuned.
