NYC Maritime Grinch Steals Holiday Weekend

Good morning everyone and please don’t hurt me. Our forecast continues to devolve into a more November-like weekend instead of salvaging half of it. We still hold onto Monday for Memorial Day itself, but that’s about the only positive I have for you here.

Get out there and enjoy this early sunshine, because we won’t see that shiny ball of hot gas again until Monday. Look for AM sun today, then increasing clouds, a cool breeze, and rain developing by late afternoon/early evening. Highs today will be in the 65-70 realm depending on how long we hold onto the sun, low mid 60’s for Long Island. Overnight, steadier and heavier rain heads in, and we could see a rumble or two of thunder. Flooding is possible in poor drainage areas as well.

Clouds stick around tomorrow as moisture has a hard time getting out of here. Along the immediate coastal corridor, expect on and off showery conditions and highs a very raw mid 50’s. Well upstate, you could see some drying conditions until the next wave drifts over the area for Sunday.

The next wave I’m talking about is the remaining moisture that is hanging back and giving us a gloomy Saturday. That’ll organize and head NNE into the area, increasing the chance for another round of steadier rain. For the moment, we’ll call for more on and off rain for Sunday, and highs a raw 60.

Monday is the only day holding steady as we finally clear all of this bullshit out. Look for increasing sunshine and a comfortable day in the low to mid 70’s.

This particular weekend reminds me very much of the one we had in 1993. Not only did Memorial Day fall on the weekend of the 31st, but it was rainy and raw all weekend with highs in the 50’s and 60’s.
