NYC Overnight Soaker Sunshine Hint Tomorrow

Good morning everyone. Clouds remain socked into the area and this is going to be the story for most of the week. After a good soaking tonight, we could see some sun here and there tomorrow, but overall we’re not in for a nice week.

SATELLITE

Today will be the warmest day of the week despite the clouds. That’s because we’re sitting east of an approaching cold front, which will eventually spread rain our way, especially overnight. As predicted, rain is running up and over the area for the moment. We could see a pop up shower at any time, and a gusty SW wind ahead of our front. Highs today in the mid 70’s and humid.

Overnight, that front will continue its slide east, and more energy will re-enhance the front as it gets close. Expect a good, soaking rain tonight, which is badly needed. We could also see a few rumbles of thunder, but no severe weather is expected.

REGIONAL RADAR

We should kick the rain out by very late overnight or very early tomorrow morning. There could be a few peeks of sun, but expect more clouds than sun throughout the day. Highs tomorrow in the 65-70 range depending on the sunshine.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

Whatever sliver of sunshine we do get tomorrow, will fade away as that moisture off of the east coast gets hung up and developing low pressure gets cut off for a few days. It’ll meander around spinning clouds back into the area, and the slight chance of showers Wednesday through Friday. The best chance of rain will be Thursday, but we’ll have to see how close that precipitation field actually gets. Highs will be a uniform mid 60’s midweek to Friday.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

So far for the weekend, Sunday looks to be the “better” day as our next approaching system kicks that low out. We should see decreasing cloudiness on Saturday with 65-70 degree temps, then possibly some full sunshine on Sunday and gradually getting windy as the day goes on. Highs in the 65-70 range too, but we may get there early before dropping.
