NYC Prolonged Air Quality Issues Likely

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the smoke show. We continue this tough, slow moving pattern, which is doing no good as far as getting some better airflow in here. We really need a prolonged WSW, SW, or S flow to push the smoke away, and it isn’t happening.

We’ll continue with some clouds and smoke in the area today and highs in the 70-75 range. Smoked veiled sunshine with increasing clouds is expected tomorrow, with near 70 temps. We’ll also have the slight chance of a few late showers.

WEATHER RADAR

Friday brings extra clouds and a better chance of showers, but I’m not expecting a washout. What I am hoping for is for some extra shower activity to try and knock the smoke down temporarily.

If this happens, we’ll try and get some “clearer” sunshine in the area for Saturday and Sunday, but I’m not 100% confident yet. As far as temps are concerned, expect 75-80 degree temps for Saturday, then upper 70’s to low 80’s on Sunday with dry conditions.
