NYC Some Energy Tomorrow Could Spark Isolated Severe Storms

Good afternoon everyone. We have a beautiful day today after yesterday’s much needed rain crossed through the area. Some areas under-performed as far as what was expected with just some steady light rain, while other areas had a hard time; especially along the South Fork of Long Island with heavy showers and storms plus some localized flooding. The next few days will be much more quiet, but we do have the slight risk of some widely scattered strong to severe weather tomorrow. The action should be for mostly the interior, but we can’t rule out that one may sneak our way.

SATELLITE

For today, we have more sun than clouds, with cobalt blue skies mixed with some high clouds and a few puffy fair-weather cumulus. Highs will be a pleasantly warm mid 80’s.

WEATHER RADAR

Tomorrow we notch up the heat with sunshine for most of the day. Expect highs in the upper 80’s, and that combined with some instability passing by, could spark some isolated strong to severe storms. For those who do see any action, hail and damaging winds will be the biggest risk.

Sunday is more quiet, but we go very warm to hot with highs near 90.

Monday was initially looking like another very warm to hot day, but an approaching system could knock a few degrees off of the top. Expect AM sun, PM increasing clouds, and highs in the mid 80’s. We could get another round of steady rain overnight and into Tuesday, but we will hold off because I’m still skeptical about the timing of this system and the moisture content. The chance of an upside and downside surprise is there, so we’ll take another look Sunday morning.
