NYC Very Hot Day With Air Quality Alerts Again

Good afternoon everyone. Out hot day is underway as temps have already reached 90 degrees in most spots and headed for mid 90’s in many locations. We also have air quality alerts due to the hot conditions and light winds, allowing that pollution/haze to build and stick around. We keep the heat and air quality issues tomorrow, then we’ll be watching overnight for some nocturnal severe weather and heavy rain. Overall, we begin the warmest/hottest stretch of this summer so far, and again, we’ll be looking for a possible heatwave in the 3rd week of July.

SATELLITE

For today, we’re near 90 now and headed for 95 in many spots. It’ll be a dry one rain-wise, but the humidity will be creeping up.

Tomorrow is noticeably more humid as those dew points rise, and that’ll help spark off some widely scattered PM storms. Whoever does see a storm, could see small hail, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. Highs tomorrow 90-95.

WEATHER RADAR

Again, we’ll be watching for some nocturnal storms tomorrow night, then storms and heavy showers will lurk about all day on Friday. I don’t think it’s a total washout, but we should be prepared for storms popping up at anytime. Look for a humid 85-90 degrees depending on those storms and some blue breaks.

Saturday and Sunday both remain looking very warm to hot, with highs in the upper 80’s to low 90’s. We’ll have the chance of PM storms each day.
