NYC Windy & Very Cold Overnight

Good morning everyone. We have a little bit of rain left as the last of our system pushes east this morning. The good news is that we dry out and should remain dry for the next 5-7 days. The bad news is that we have some very cold air coming in tonight and most likely a chilly weekend at the end of this workweek.

Expect clouds to stick around today till some time late afternoon, although the rain will be gone by late morning/noon’ish. We’ll get near 50 in spots today, but that wind will whip up and very cold air will begin to rush in before sunset.

Overnight, lows will crash into the upper teens to low 20’s, with 20-35 mph winds and gusts 40-50mph.

F5 WEATHER RADARS

Blustery conditions stick around tomorrow, and the sunshine won’t do much to warm us up. Look for highs in the mid 30’s. We modify quickly on Wednesday for the best day of the week, and we should see highs near 50.

Another reinforcing shot of colder air will move through Wednesday night, and that’ll send us back into the mid 40’s Thursday; then low 40’s Friday.

So far for your weekend, we are looking sunny and dry, but upper 30’s to low 40’s will dominate.

In the long range, models don’t handle the mild air well anything beyond the lower Midwest and Southeast; so when you see mild air pushing into places like Chicago and NYC 2 weeks down the road and front related, one must be skeptical as to if it’ll actually play out this way.

That being said, there is an opportunity for some milder air mid-month, and even if the models don’t pan out this way, it shows what the fronts are capable of IF we find ourselves with a cold front to our west during any given afternoon.
