NYC Wintry Conditions Possible Next Week

Good morning everyone and Happy almost-Thanksgiving. We are watching an active pattern brewing, plus the possibility of some wintry conditions in NYC if a system pans-out “correctly” early to mid next week. We have a long way to go on this, but we’ll break it down for you as to why we are watching it.

SATELLITE

To start off, we have clouds and mild conditions ahead of our next system. Look for some scattered rain, especially out on Long Island, with highs in the low 60’s. That’ll be it for the 60’s for a while as chillier conditions move in. Thanksgiving Day looks blustery and a little nip in the air as temps in the low to mid 40’s feel like 30’s combined with the wind.

WEATHER RADAR

Windy conditions continue on Friday with more low 40’s, then we calm the wind down for a bit on Saturday with more low 40’s. Milder air sneaks in for Sunday as clouds increase ahead of our next system. Look for highs in the low 50’s with the chance of rain overnight.

Sunday’s system is the one we’ll be watching, because it’s likely a piece will stall out along the Gulf States. As cold air heads in behind the system, moisture will try and build back into the Mid-Atlantic and head into the Northeast. As usual, a lot of pieces have to come together here and it’s too early to talk about rain-snow lines. However, this is the first system of the season that bears watching, and it could be the first true snowmaker for some.
