PACIFIC TROPICS DRIVING NYC EARLY FALL PATTERN

Good morning everyone. We’re waking up to clouds in the New York City area today, but we should get a few breaks as things begin to warm up. Meanwhile, we have some very warm weather on the way mid week thanks to what Hurricane Rosa is doing to our pattern; and possibly some more Pacific-driven action if Tropical Storm Sergio gets sucked into the Southwest as well.

EASTERN SATELLITE

Clouds will stick around today as warmer air is trying to make its way in with the help of an approaching front. We should have a few peaks of sun today and it’ll be moderately above normal temp-wise. Look for highs in the mid to upper 70’s and while the humidity is creeping up compared to yesterday, it should behave today.

REGIONAL RADAR

For tomorrow, that front near us should begin to slip down. However, humidity will increase ahead of it as well as the wind. Expect a relatively warm day, with a gusty south wind (especially along the immediate shore); highs in the upper 70’s, low 70’s along the beaches. We’ll also have the slight chance of a shower or storm tomorrow late afternoon.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

After a steadier round of showers and storms Tuesday night, we’ll replace a southerly flow with a light west/northwesterly flow. For those familiar with our area, when that happens, things warm up fast. It shouldn’t be as humid Wednesday, but we should break 80 degrees in many areas. That’ll actually help set us up for an even warmer Thursday as winds switch around more southwesterly and we notch up the humidity once again; highs in the low to mid 80’s.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

From Friday onward, things remain looking complicated. Thursday’s warmth could be cut short as another front drapes down. We could find our way back in the seasonal realm, but Tropical Storm Sergio (it’ll be a Hurricane soon), could ding the jet stream again and allow more warmth into our area late weekend. Between two stubborn air masses and the influx of tropical moisture into our Southwest, the entire cake batter just needs to be watched until things become more certain.
