Hello Angry fans. For those who follow Angry Ben on Facebook, my relief spot in the rotation is coming an end with The Angry One returning on Sunday. I have two more days of typing, and his spirit is with me as I wrap up my tenure. The quiet period continues with a lack of any significant rain or action, and Angry Ben looks like he scores another Hail-mary touchdown. Mid-week next week, the start of October, could see some mid 80’s. On the opposite end of the spectrum, he also advised me on a brisk weekend possible, and that’s looking like a very strong bet as well.
Clear skies all the way since that cold front passed by yesterday. It’ll be sunny and comfortable with highs in the mid to upper 70’s today.
The NYC area holds onto this quiet period until the next chance of rain to break the heat mid to late week next week. You’ll have sunny skies both tomorrow and Sunday. Southerly winds will bring low 80’s tomorrow, then a wind shift from the north will bring mid to upper 70’s Sunday.
Monday will be the coolest day of the week. A strong NNE influence will hold temps down in the low 70’s. The region bounces back on Tuesday with a brief ridge building back in. Sunny and quiet conditions continue though and NYC should see upper 70’s to near 80. Wednesday will be the warmest day of the week with the ridge fully taking hold. Warm and humid mid 80’s are possible.
Depending on when the front sinks through, Thursday could be a warm day as well, or at least a warm start. At some point the Northeast will see a round of showers and storms, then the cool air will start filtering in either Thursday or Thursday night.
After a very warm October start, the first weekend of October might not get out of the low 60’s. That means the area would go from well above average, to several degrees below average rather quickly. Let’s see how it all pans out and how strong this high pressure really is. Angry Ben says he’s 100% confident on this big temperature swing, but 75% confident on how low it goes. He’ll be back in time on Sunday to discuss it himself if it holds.
Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
