ACTIVE NYC LATE FEBRUARY LOOMS QUIET WEEKEND FIRST

ACTIVE NYC LATE FEBRUARY LOOMS QUIET WEEKEND FIRST – Good afternoon everyone and Happy President’s Day Weekend! We have a beautiful rest of the weekend ahead of us, but that doesn’t mean we take our eye off of the ball and don’t have a job to do. Sunny skies and sinking, stable air will be with us this afternoon and tomorrow, highs today are pretty much at their peak, with most places in the mid to upper 50’s, slightly cooler at the coast with a little touch of seabreeze. Tomorrow will be more or less the same, maybe a touch warmer at the coast this time around with winds more off of the land than the ocean. Highs tomorrow again will be 55-60.

On Monday, things cool down as colder air tries to fight back. It’ll still be nice, but most places will see upper 40’s to low 50’s as opposed to pushing 60 like today and tomorrow. Part of this front pumping milder air into are area begins to break apart, sending a piece of energy towards our area during Tuesday. Most of Tuesday is looking nice, cool with highs in the mid 40’s, but clouds will increase Tuesday night with a chance of showers late Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. As of now it looks as if most of the energy will go to the north of us, so rain will be scattered and light in nature.

Next Weekend’s System

Wednesday, temps start to creep up again as any clouds/showers departs, highs in the low 50’s. On Thursday, westerly winds and stable air will give us another shot at the 60 degree mark. After Thursday, we watch another piece of this stalled out system in the Midwest head towards our area. Once again, most of the energy will go to our north, but as of now, it looks to be accompanied by a stronger front; so there is a better shot of rain and strong, southerly winds over next weekend.

All indicators are pointing towards a cooler, more active period after this system clears out next weekend and the beginning of March is looking cooler & wetter than what we’re experiencing now.
