Comfortable Day in New York City Humid Thundery Weekend
06/28/24 11:18am ET
Good morning everyone. We have a simply fantastic day in much of the Northeast, with sunshine, low humidity, and very tolerable temps on the mild side. High pressure dominates today, but the return flow tomorrow and Sunday will bring back clouds, humidity, warmer temps, and the risk for some scattered heavy showers & storms. We are still keeping an eye on the long range, and the end of next week continues to look hot as 90’s and oppressive conditions return.
On the severe weather front, we have heavy showers and rumbles across parts of Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Illinois. However, there are no severe weather alerts at the time of this article. Low pressure is hanging back in Montana as that front stretches across Canada and down into the Central States. That will provide the energy needed for a round of severe weather this evening in parts of Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, and Kansas.
Tonight’s action looks to be less widespread, but individual cells could pose a big problem as far as damaging winds, very large hail, frequent lightning, and strong tornadoes. We’ll also watch that risk reemerge again tomorrow evening across Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma as that front slowly drapes south. Damaging winds, large hail, and tornadic activity will be on the menu for tomorrow night for those who do see some severe weather.
Here is your local NYC metro forecast –
SATELLITE
Sunshine and 75-90 degree temps rule the roost today across much of the area. We’ll also have very comfortable humidity for a mild, spring feel.
WEATHER RADAR
Clouds return tomorrow as does the humidity. Look for more clouds than sun, near 80 degree temps, and the chance of some scattered PM storms that could be on the heavy side. We’ll have more of the same on Sunday, but even with the clouds, we go for low 90’s in spots.
Monday looks similar to today for the start to your workweek; with sunshine and upper 70’s to low 80’s and low humidity.
