COOLER AIR ARRIVES SUNDAY EIGHTIES AHEAD
COOLER AIR ARRIVES SUNDAY EIGHTIES AHEAD – Good afternoon everyone. Cooler air is starting to make it’s way in, but first we need to deal with some clouds and scattered sprinkles.
Low pressure is heading across the Great Lakes region, bringing showers ahead of it, then a seasonably cool 2 day block for tomorrow and Friday. Highs today will be in the low 70’s and temps will begin to drop as the day goes on. Tonight, we’ll have some clouds and maybe a few leftover showers, lows in the mid 50’s in the NYC area, possibly some 40’s away from the City.
Tomorrow and Friday feel more like mid-October, with some early morning clouds and maybe a sprinkle early tomorrow, then sun and clouds with highs in the low 60’s. Mid 60’s and sun for Friday, then clouds associated with the leading edge of warmer air move in for Friday night. Yesterday, I stated we might see some fog and drizzle Friday night and Saturday morning, but it looks as if that chance is starting to dwindle and anything we do see will be scattered and localized.
Saturday we’re back into the soup, but it’s front-related and won’t last long. We’ll see highs in the mid 70’s; then Sunday looks to be the warmer of the two days, with humid conditions and highs in the low 80’s. Sunday’s record high of 82 degrees set back in 1975, might be in jeopardy of being tied or slightly broken since we are going to see more sun than originally expected. We’ll have to wait and see on that because a sea breeze could also develop ahead of the approaching front, knocking temps down just as they get close to the record.
We begin to cool things off once again on Monday as temps slowly drop into the mid 70’s, then 60’s for Tuesday. However, we could start working our way up again late next week and peak again the weekend of the 21st. As of now, it’s too far out to tell how warm that may be, but 70’s are a strong possibility with a slight chance of being a touch warmer.
