LOCALIZED WASHOUT POSSIBLE TOMORROW
LOCALIZED WASHOUT POSSIBLE TOMORROW – Good morning everyone. The local forecast for the NYC area this weekend has deteriorated somewhat as the chance of steadier rain increases. The troughy pattern is all set to go and things look tricky until the end of next week.
For today, look for sunny skies early, increasing clouds late. Highs in the upper 80’s to low 90’s with little to no wind.
The chance of rain increases late tonight before sunrise tomorrow as weak low pressure heading out of the Ohio Valley and into the mid-Atlantic. This will help usher in an onshore flow and some extra energy into the NYC metro area. It’s possible that a small area could see some enhanced/steady precip, but where it sets up is the question.
As of now, we have a decent shot at some steady rain, but I still wouldn’t cancel plans since the area that gets this steady action will be rather small in scale. I’d make the call tomorrow morning after looking at the radar to see where everything is setting up. For the moment, expect cloudy skies, muggy upper 70’s, and the chance of showers and storms.
More scattered and troughy weather settles in for Sunday as we’re back in the 80’s with muggy conditions. We’ll have a chance of showers and storms each day and low to mid 80’s until mid-week. There will be times when we’re in the juice and get some decent action rain-wise, then there will be breaks with heavy Florida cumulus filling the skies.
On Wednesday, the trough wants to begin to break down. As with the way the summer has been going, heat will increase as the energy begins to let go, with upper 80’s to near 90 possible Wednesday and onward. In the long range forecast, August continues to look very warm to hot, with a brief to moderate break possible for the last 1/3 of the month.
