NORTHEAST QUADRANT NOREASTER CHANCES INCREASES LATE WEEK
NORTHEAST QUADRANT NOREASTER CHANCES INCREASES LATE WEEK – Good morning everyone. We have a beautiful start to our Saturday before the gloom moves back in as the day wears on, then we turn our eyes to late week next week, where something much larger and powerful may be lurking.
Look for clouds to be on the increase today, but not before we hit the 50’s with some early sunshine. Rain should enter the picture by late afternoon and a light northeast breeze should help bring back the chill in the air. The wind picks up for tonight and it should be raining on and off for all of it, then continue into tomorrow till mid to late afternoon; highs tomorrow a damp mid to upper 40’s with a brisk northeast breeze making it feel much cooler than it is.
Sun returns Monday for a beautiful 3 day stretch. Sunny skies and mid 50’s will dominate as we near March. However, March will be coming in like a lion in true form with the setup of a possible classic Nor’easter in terms of how it forms.
For those looking for snow, this could be the one issue as Nor’easter don’t always equate to snow. Low pressure will look to come out of the Ohio Valley and into the Great Lakes region, then transfer its energy to or near the coast by New Jersey. If this happens, it’ll be too close to NYC to give us snow, but depending on how long it sticks around or in what manner it departs, we could get some flakes in the air as it pulls away.
As of this very moment, the potential is there for a powerful system, with a heavy dump of snow upstate and in New England, and New York City getting a classic wind-driven rain. Beach erosion and coastal flooding may become an issue as well. We’ll keep a close eye on this as any shift as to where low pressure develops, could make a difference in our forecast.
Also, since it’s early, the potential is there for a bust in terms of low pressure just going into the Great Lakes without any transfer of energy, or a transfer that’s too late. So stayed tuned and we will fine-tune everything as we get closer.
