NYC AFTERNOON UPDATE EASTER SUNDAY PREVIEW
Good afternoon everyone. Our system that brought a brief moment of severe weather in spots, is starting to pull away quickly, giving us varying amounts of sun as the wind machine kicks on. We’ll see a similar system stretched out between Thursday and Saturday, then Easter Sunday is potentially looking very NYC Easter-like.
EASTERN SATELLITE
Our last piece of energy has swung on by, touching off some brief heavy showers in the area earlier this afternoon. We still have one more area of showers/wet snow showers going well north and west of us, and that may bring some cloudy skies back before sunset, but the precipitation is over. Look for temps dropping through the 50’s, then upper 30’s/low 40’s overnight, with a stiff wind as wind advisories have been posted.
We’ll have a sunny and breezy day tomorrow, but you can at least say goodbye to the 35-40mph gusts and dial things down to a steady westerly. Highs tomorrow in the low 60’s; right on par for this time of year.
REGIONAL RADAR
Wednesday will be a wash, with lighter winds making things feel warmer on the skin, but more clouds than sun developing, bringing back the cool feel on the skin. Highs Wednesday in the low 60’s again.
We remain cloudy overnight Wednesday as that next system arrives. Just as our last one, this one will take a few days to fully clear out. We’ll have the slight chance of light showers on Thursday with the weaker part of a stretched our warm from trying to reach out far and brush us; highs in the upper 50’s to low 60’s.
On Friday, we get the bulk of that warm front energy with some steadier rain and maybe a rumble of thunder; but I don’t think it’ll clear far enough to wipe the clouds out from a while. We’ll remain in the gloom with low to mid 60’s.
Friday night into Saturday, we’ll replay the slow moving cold front scenario as we did last night and this morning. Look for a round of heavier showers and storms, along with a strong southerly fetch and gusty winds.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
The good news is that it looks like we may clear things out for a nicer late afternoon on Saturday, with 65-70 degree temps possible. Sun and clouds will be on the menu Sunday, and wind machine is back, but we’re dry and into the mid 60’s. I would say in this active and seasonably average pattern, you couldn’t ask for a better Easter Sunday.
We’ll keep an eye on the timing and make the appropriate changes if applicable.
