NYC BABY STEPS TOWARDS AND INTO SPRING

Good morning everyone. We’re 9 days away from Spring and New York City is looking good as we take baby steps towards spring and into the spring season. Everything is progressing as expected, and we’ll have a few milder days here and there, as well as a few cooler days here and there.

EASTERN SATELLITE

Expect a nice dry block for the next 3 1/2 to 4 days, but today is looking like the prize winner. Breezy? Yes, but sunny and seasonably mild as the NYC area goes just past 50 without rain knocking on the door; so even though the wind will keep temps feeling cooler, you’ll begin to feel the power of the March sun.

REGIONAL RADAR

That wind actually signals cooler air moving in for tomorrow as we drop slightly below normal. We remain dry, sunny, and breezy, but we dip below 50 with highs a seasonably cool mid 40’s. The area will modify a touch on Wednesday as we creep back into the upper 40’s, and winds will calm down; making things feel a bit more comfortable.

On Thursday, another system and Great Lakes-runner begins to make its approach. Expect increasing clouds and mild day as rain holds off hopefully until the late evening/nighttime; highs in the low to mid 50’s.

Rain definitely moves in late overnight Thursday if not a little earlier, and the bulk of the rain falls on Friday with a washout. Look for on and off rain most of the day Friday, and if we can keep the fog and drizzle at bay before the front passes, we could see low to mid 60’s; but it’ll be a humid and damp low to mid 60’s at best.

Next weekend, we begin the typical process of cooling down again but with a slight delay. The front passes Friday, so expect a usual windy and seasonably mild day Saturday with mid 50’s, then the cool-off for Sunday. We’re looking sunny, windy, and dry Sunday, with seasonably cool to near-normal temps in the mid to upper 40’s.

To begin next week, we start off cool, then go seasonal again. We’ll also watch our next system to see if we’re on the mild side of things again, or if we get a cold, raw, marine layer type rain. Either way, we’re looking typical March-seasonal as we near and enter Spring; with no prolonged cold air, no prolonged mild air, and no unseasonably very warm days in sight as of now.

Just March doing March things, minus big internet snowstorms.
