NYC Carbon Copy Days Through Friday
09/02/24 10:34am ET
Good morning everyone. Picture perfect weather has finally come to the Northeast, and in some places, there will be a little bite in the air overnight tonight and tomorrow. We have frost advisories up tonight in parts of the Adirondack and Allegheny chain in central and northern New York as temps are expected to dip in the 35-40 range. Other than that, we have no hazards going on and we should be in the 75-80 range each day in the lower Tri-State area until clouds & showers return on Saturday.
Our focus continues in coastal sections of North Carolina and South Carolina as that cold front slowly drags through and doesn’t really make it fully through. Look for scattered strong to severe thunderstorms throughout the day, with anything popping up at any time. Our best chance for some stronger storms will be later this afternoon and early evening, with locally damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain.
Speaking of torrential rain, we are still dealing with heavy showers and storms in central, northern, and western Texas. This is much needed rain, but because of the dry soil and copious amounts of rain in such short time, we do have some flooding concerns in regards. We’ll also see some isolated strong to severe storms mixed in as the afternoon heating helps fuel some extra instability.
Our last stop is Florida as that long arm of tropical moisture stretches across the peninsula. Look for heavy showers and thunderstorms on each side of the coast to move inland into south Florida, then creep up towards central Florida before fizzling out after sunset. Just with all of the other action, look for locally strong to severe storms, and we’ll also add the waterspout component in near-coastal areas.

SATELLITE
We’ll keep it very simple for you since this is easy as it gets. Look for mostly sunny skies and 75-80 degree temps today through Friday. Humidity will begin to creep up on Friday ahead of our next front due in Friday night and the weekend. Clouds and rain/thunder are expected both Saturday & Sunday for now. We’ll fine tune that forecast this week.
