NYC Classically Cold New Year’s Eve Expected

Good morning everyone. We have a blustery one ahead of us today, plus a very typical, old-school New Year’s Eve tomorrow night as a reinforcing shot of cold air locks in. We’ll also see some snow squall/snow flurry action ahead of the arctic boundary, but whether or not they reach the NYC/Long Island area, remains in question.

SATELLITE

For today, it’ll be downright cold as highs reach the upper 20’s to low 30’s and winds gust between 40-50mph. Wind chills will be down in the teens, so bundle up! winds continue tonight, with lows in the low to mid 20’s.

WEATHER RADAR

Look for sun & clouds tomorrow with 30-35 degree temps, lighter but steady winds, and increasing clouds ahead of that next shot of arctic air. For New Year’s Eve, we’ll have the chance of some scattered late flurries or squalls, but the best place to see some action with be well N&W of NYC and the Forks of Long Island. If by chance some flurries or a brief squall does sneak in, it could whiten the ground before things come to an end.

For New Year’s Day, any chance of flurries or snow showers end before noon, then we are just plain cold. Highs will be in the 25-30 range during the day, then we plunge into the mid to upper teens overnight.
