NYC Decreasing Clouds Mild Conditions Today

Good morning everyone and happy Columbus Day for those who celebrate and have the day off. We have a fairly nice day today once the clouds depart, and that rainmaker on Wednesday looks to be in good shape. It’ll be the only rain we get between here and possibly next week, so let’s hope we can squeeze out as much as possible.

Clouds from our departing cold front will begin to break apart as the day goes on, and some sunshine will help boost us into the 70-75 realm before that delayed cooler air moves in tomorrow. We’ll have light westerlies which will help keep things feeling dry, mild, and comfortable.

Sunny skies rule tomorrow, but we dip down compared to today with the core of the seasonal air drifting over us. Highs tomorrow will be in the low to mid 60’s.

REGIONAL RADAR

Our big rainmaker moves in for Wednesday and believe it or not, there’s still some questions in term of the timing of our wave ahead of the approaching cold front. As of now, it looks like it develops just in time and just before the front kicks everything out. What that means for us will be a decent shot for at least a brief period of heavier rain at some point. We’ll probably top off at a gusty mid to upper 60’s, but fall when the rain starts.

The timing looks like we cloud up in the morning, with early to mid afternoon rain. Things will probably start off scattered and light, then increase in intensity as we get into the evening/overnight hours. We could even see a few rumbles of thunder as that wave enhances the front, and localized flooding in poor drainage areas is possible.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

Everything is gone by Thursday morning, and we’ll be left with decreasing clouds throughout the day, cool and windy. Let’s see how cool we go, but for now I’ll say 55-60 for highs Thursday.

Winds begin to subside on Friday, but it’ll still be seasonably cool with highs in the upper 50’s to low 60’s with sunny skies.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

Our weekend remains looking nice as we sit between highs pressure drifting offshore and a large, slow moving system to our west. Look for mid to upper 60’s Saturday, then upper 60’s to low 70’s on Sunday with sunny skies each day.

If our next system moves slow enough, we could be in a brief pocket of warmer air, with mid 70’s+ possible Monday and Tuesday before we cool off again after some rain.
