NYC Fringe Effects From Weak System Tomorrow Night
Good morning everyone. We have a cloudy start this morning as an area of energy is going to our north, touching off a few scattered snow showers to our northeast; with a few sneaking down across here. They’ll be gone quickly this morning, then we watch for tomorrow’s compact system heading our way that may complicate Wednesday morning’s commute.
SATELLITE
Look for any scattered snow showers and flurries to head out quickly, giving way to clouds and sun by late morning/early afternoon. Expect a steady westerly flow and highs in the low to mid 40’s.
REGIONAL RADAR
Tomorrow, we have energy moving out of the Tennessee Valley and into the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic. This is a weak area of moisture and things are looking like a glancing blow at best, with low pressure developing too late and heading far enough to our south. However, we could see some light rain showers developing late tomorrow and into the evening. Highs tomorrow in the upper 30’s to low 40’s.
My concern remains, is that IF the moisture makes it far enough north, enough cold air bleeding down will be able to change light rain into light snow. Any accumulations will be inconsequential, but temps dropping into the upper 20’s to low 30’s and wet roads, could make for a slippery commute Wednesday morning with a thin layer of ice beneath any hypothetical dusting or coating.
This all hangs on how far north that moisture gets and we’ll be keeping a close eye on it all.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Regardless of how this system works out, any possible light snow is gone by early Wednesday morning, and cloudy skies will give way to clouds & sun and very windy conditions. Look for highs in the upper 30’s to near 40, and a very blustery day.
On Thursday, the winds relax, but cold air remains in place with highs in the mid to upper 30’s. It’ll be the nicest day of the week in terms sunshine and dry conditions, then the next system comes in on Friday with milder temps.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
As of this moment, our late week into weekend almost looks like a repeat from this past week, with rain arriving late Friday; a mild & rainy Saturday, then we’ll see if showers linger into early Sunday.
The long range continues to look snow-hostile as far as any major systems, but we continue to keep an eye on the Gulf coast for any surprises after these systems pass by. That’s our only shot for now if you’re a snow lover.
