NYC Late Weekend Weather Impacted by Hurricane Isaias Remnants

Good morning everyone. All eyes are on the Gulf as Tropical Storm Isaias begins to gain some strength on its journey towards the Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida Panhandle coast. We’re expecting an overnight Friday/early morning Saturday landfall in the region mentioned; then high pressure moving offshore along the eastern seaboard will help launch it across Tennessee and Kentucky. After that, we’ll begin to watch the Mid-Atlantic on up into New England as that energy transfers to coast in the form of a breezy, soaking rain.

As far as initial landfall, the NWS is calling for a Category 1-2 Hurricane, but I always remain skeptical with Gulf-sourced hurricanes as they can get spicey very fast. Everyone in the area of landfall and a few hours inland, need to pay close attention to this and not take it lightly. Storm surge on this angle of approach will be major, plus the added hazard of severe weather and numerous tornadoes.

Check out the latest below regarding NYC’s forecast….

SATELLITE

For today, look for cobalt blue skies, light winds, and highs a pleasant upper 60’s after a chilly morning. Sunshine continues tomorrow as we warm up into the low to mid 70’s.

WEATHER RADAR

Friday’s another winner, with more sunshine and highs again in the low to mid 70’s. We continue that mojo for Saturday, with a carbon-copy day.

For Sunday, we start out with sunshine and more low 70’s; then increasing clouds as the day goes on. Look for rain developing by evening, then a breezy soaking rain overnight. Columbus Day starts off rainy, then things will taper off as the day goes on. Look for muggy upper 60’s to low 70’s.
