NYC Rain Arriving Late Sticks Around Through Tomorrow Afternoon

NYC Rain Arriving Late Sticks Around Through Tomorrow Afternoon

Good morning everyone. We have clouds drifting into the area with yet another system entering the picture. This will be the pattern for the next couple of weeks, with very little space in between each rain or possible snow/mix event.

SATELLITE

storm free

Our satellite shows clouds rolling in from the southwest, and that’s where our precip will come from as low pressure hugs the coast. We’ll be on the “mild” side of this system, but don’t expect for it to actually feel mild out. Lack of sunshine and an easterly flow will help make things feel raw.

Rain will try and creep in by late afternoon, but the steadiest and heaviest rain will occur overnight tonight and into early tomorrow morning; with a few rumbles possible well. Look for highs in the upper 40’s to low 50’s, and we’ll remain steady or rise slightly overnight.

REGIONAL RADAR

storm free

Steady and rain heavy at times become more of the showery variety by mid to late morning tomorrow. Flooding is possible in poor drain age areas tomorrow morning, and we’ll reach the mid to upper 50’s before temps begin to sink back towards reality.

We begin to clear out Sunday, but winds will howl as drier air moves in and low pressure moves away. Highs will be seasonable as we go for mid to upper 40’s, but wind chills will make it feel much colder out.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

Chillier air fully takes hold Monday and that’ll set us up for some possible mixed precip overnight, which was discussed in the last forecast. Look for increasing clouds, highs in the upper 30’s to low 40’s.

Depending on the timing of our next system, cold air may be temporarily locked in; giving us the chance of some onset snow, sleet, and rain overnight Monday. So far, this period of possible frozen precip looks brief as our next system’s track is not snow-friendly.

Whatever happens, it’ll be all rain Tuesday with on and off showery conditions and highs in the mid to upper 40’s.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

Our long range continues to look active, and I’m still keeping an eye on the timing and path of any systems PRIOR to Christmas Day for that outside chance of a whitened ground for the holidays. We’ll see what happens as we have a very long way to go.
