NYC RAIN MAKES FRIDAY SATURDAY ENCORE

NYC RAIN MAKES FRIDAY SATURDAY ENCORE – Good rainy morning everyone. Springtime in New York City always comes with an array of curveballs, and this one has been no different. Even our newfound “smooth” transition into the second 3rd of spring has found a way to give us a brief poke in the eye in the form of some extended clouds and rain.

Our first set of rainfall is on schedule and underway, with rain, heavy at times, and maybe a few rumbles of thunder as morning presses on. Look for a stiff east wind and highs 55-60 (it won’t feel like it). Rain continues into the night, then finally tapers off to some scattered showers, ceasing before sunrise.

Tomorrow now looks tone the best day of the week, with morning clouds and sun, giving way to bright sunshine, a gusty west wind, but highs in the mid to upper 60’s. Clouds increase once again tomorrow night as a small piece of energy behind our current system, decides to make a close pass instead of slipping to our south.

Unfortunately, this will give us another shot of brief, steady rain on Friday late morning/early afternoon; then clouds and scattered showers stick around for the rest of the day; highs in the low 60’s. Clouds and widely scattered popcorn showers remain in the picture of Saturday, especially with the help of some afternoon “heating”; highs in the mid 60’s.

On Sunday, we finally clear all of this out and begin our trek towards warmer weather. We start off with bright sunshine and seasonably cool weather Sunday, with highs in the upper 50’s to low 60’s. However, we creep into the mid 60’s for Monday, then possibly some low 70’s on Tuesday.

In the long range and as of now, I’m playing it conservative with mid to upper 70’s possible next Wednesday and beyond. That being said, 80’s are not out of the realm of possibilities, especially in interior parts of Brooklyn, Queens, and Nassau, plus Manhattan and the Bronx. We’ll wait and see how the airmass plays out and what the winds look like.

Stay tuned.
