NYC RAINY SUNDAY ON SCHEDULE WINTRY MIX INLAND
Good late morning everyone. Our last cold day of this stretch in the NYC area is upon us, then we begin to modify things and also bring back the rain. Meanwhile, the long range outlook is holding very strong as we turn the gears of NYC spring.
EASTERN SATELLITE
That icy veil I’ve been talking about is here as a weak system slides to the south of us. It’s looking as weak as I though it would be, so any brief period of light snow or flurry action will be rare to come by and of little consequence if it were to happen tonight at all. Highs today in the mid to upper 30’s.
REGIONAL RADAR
Tomorrow, we start off sunny and break into the 40’s. Clouds will increase late as a more vigorous system takes that familiar road of well north and west of our area. That system will bring the chance of rain between 11pm and 3am, with the bulk of the action towards morning.
We’ll have rain here until early to mid afternoon tomorrow, steadiest and heaviest mid to late morning. Highs Sunday in the upper 40’s to near 50.
Inland, we could have some issues with this system due to cold air wedged in, especially in higher elevations and trapped in the valleys. Those valleys could see problems with sleet and freezing rain, while higher elevations get a decent period of snow. Most of the action will be confined from Poughkeepsie on northward and into New England, but areas such as White Plains, could start off as sleet before changing to rain.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
To start the week, we clear things out with sun and seasonable temps, then we dip slightly below normal before bouncing back late week. That bounce-back will signal another Great Lakes-bound low pressure system and more rain for us. We’ll break down the exact timing as we get closer.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Our long range outlook is looking very healthy and panning out as expected for now. Spring is 12 days away and spring it shall be. Remember, spring in NYC, specifically the start of it, can be very volatile, active, and wet. We expect a seasonal start with no extreme, 4-6 day cold blocks like we’re experiencing now.
MANY THANKS TO TROPICAL TIDBITS FOR THE USE OF MAPS
