NYC Rough Surf Likely Late Week Into Weekend
Good morning everyone. We continue to watch waves of energy meandering around the Ohio River Valley and off of the East Coast. Today, we’re in between a departing wave and approaching wave, so things will be quiet. However, we will watch that energy coagulate off of the Mid-Atlantic and see if high pressure is enough to block a developing low pressure. As of now, the GFS steps away from the idea of low pressure retrograding back towards the Northeast/New England. However, the EURO holds onto the idea; so we’ll keep the idea in our head even though confidence is iffy. Regardless of the track, look for increasing winds, rough surf, and the risk of being brushed with some of the precip; especially on the East End of Long Island.
SATELLITE
For today, we’ll have a mix of sun & clouds, dry conditions, and highs in the upper 60’s to low 70’s under steady NE winds. Look for the slight chance of some morning showers tomorrow, gusty NE winds, and highs in the mid 60’s at best.
WEATHER RADAR
Wednesday we’re in between things again, but tight pressure gradient will give us a windier day. We’ll have highs in the mid 60’s again, mostly cloudy skies, and NE winds gusting to near 30mph. Look for more of the same on Thursday, with breezy/windy conditions and highs in the mid 60’s. Friday is when we begin to watch how close that low pressure system gets. At minimum, look for more clouds, more mid 60’s, windy conditions, and the risk of a few showers.
The same goes for Saturday, then things begin to relax a big as everything pulls away. Look for clouds and sun on Sunday, with highs 65-70 degrees.
