NYC SCATTERED FIRST FREEZE OVERNIGHT ADDITIONAL RAIN WIND TUESDAY

NYC SCATTERED FIRST FREEZE OVERNIGHT ADDITIONAL RAIN WIND TUESDAY

Good morning folks. The coldest air of the season has arrived into the New York City area, plus we are keeping our eye on the next system to start the week. This one has the potential to be a little bit stronger than last night’s, and will also help reinforce the cold air until another possible system next weekend.

EASTERN SATELLITE

Our active pattern continues and will do so for some time. Meanwhile, we enjoy one of those breaks in between systems today, but that break will be a cold and windy one. Look for sunny skies, blustery west winds, and highs only in the low to mid 40’s. Overnight, we dip to near freezing in most areas of the city, but we could see parts dip below; giving those areas their first freeze of the season. Areas away from NYC could easily see widespread 20’s as lows.

For tomorrow, we continue that sunny and cold trend, but the winds will calm down to help make it feel warmer. Highs again will be int he low to mid 40’s.

REGIONAL RADAR

On Monday, clouds start to creep in as the day wears on, while temps slightly modify into the upper 40’s to near 50. This is due to the approach of our next system fro the southwest.

Low pressure will ride up the coast on Tuesday to give us another round of wind and rain. This one has the potential to give us more rain than our departing system from last night, as well as slightly stronger winds. The main threat though will be flooding since the ground is already saturated. Expect flood watches to pop up either tomorrow night or Monday for Tuesday’s system.

After everything departs, we are left with yet another shot of cold air. Look for a repeat of today and Sunday for Wednesday and Thursday; with a cold blustery day Wednesday and low 40’s, then low to mid 40’s Thursday and calmer winds. After that, we’ll probably increase the clouds and modify the temps for Friday as we watch yet another rain and wind-maker possible for next weekend IF things don’t slide to the south of us with a whimper.
