NYC SNOW POSSIBLE LATE THURSDAY NIGHT
NYC SNOW POSSIBLE LATE THURSDAY NIGHT – Good morning everyone and welcome to the reality that is our winter. With models going haywire and very volatile, I stated a few weeks ago on my Facebook page, Angry Bens Angry Weather, that some of the snow we see this seasons, would come in the form of a “last minute surprise”, and not some super long range forecast. This is one of those times. First off, rain, drizzle, and fog will clear out before sunrise and partial clearing will commence. Winds will pick up out of the west and will gust at times to around 25mph, but it’ll be unseasonably mild with temps in the mid 50’s.
NYC SNOW POSSIBLE LATE THURSDAY NIGHT – Tomorrow, energy will move off of North Carolina and head off to the northeast, but not before kicking back some moisture in the form of light to moderate snow late night and in Friday morning. As of now, we’re looking to be on the northern fringe of this very quick moving system. All short range models are pointing to this scenario now. However, the NAM has a heavier band of snow over the area before quickly heading out to sea. For the time being, I’m going to stay on the conservative side with the map above, but if the NAM is correct, we may have to bring the 1-2″ area more north and west, and make the area shaded in red right now 1-3″ or 2-4″. We’ll have a better idea of exactly what to expect in terms of snowfall amounts by late tonight/early tomorrow morning. Keep in mind that Friday’s rush may be tricky due to the fact that any snow that falls, will stick to every surface. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing situation.
Satellite picture shows our soaker heading on out, with drier air temporarily moving in today. Our next weather maker for Thursday is being picked up around the Texas panhandle.
Northeast radar shows one more spoke of rain to head through or just edge to the north of us between 3 and 4am, then partial clearing begins.
