NYC Some Wintry Precip Possible Next Seven Days But Not Much
Good morning everyone. We’re watching a very long, drawn out system heading our way in bits and pieces that’ll bring periods of clouds and showers into the area through Thursday. While the short range NAM is too aggressive for my taste, we could see a flake or two (or a few sleet pellets) mixed in here and there throughout this period. Plus, we’ll be watching to see if an overrunning setup plays out for the weekend for some light snow or mix, but right now confidence is “meh”.
SATELLITE
For today, we’ll have some AM sunshine, then increasing clouds and highs a mild 55-60. Some moisture transits through overnight, giving us the chance of some rain showers into tomorrow. If we get some moderate echos, it could create enough cooling to see some wet snowflakes or sleet mixed in overnight and early tomorrow AM. Mostly likely, the majority of light to moderate snow will be confined to areas N&W of the NYC area and in higher elevations.
We’ll have on and off showers tomorrow with highs in the mid to upper 40’s.
WEATHER RADAR
Clouds increase again on Wednesday with the chance of some late showers. Once again, we could see some wet snow or sleet mixed in during the late evening hours, but mild air winds out and any mixing (if any at all), will turn to all rain and continue into Thursday morning. Highs Wednesday and Thursday will both be raw in the mid 40’s and damp conditions.
Sun returns Friday for a cold and blustery day. We’ll have highs in the 35-40 range, but then dip into the teens overnight.
Clouds increase again on Saturday, and we’ll be watching to see of we can get any warm front action as far as some light snow or mixed precip later in the evening. Highs will be in the low to mid 30’s for a cold day, but if we get anything at all, it’s gone by Sunday as near 50 temps return.
