NYC SUN RETURNS EARLY HEATWAVE LOOKING STRONG

NYC SUN RETURNS EARLY HEATWAVE LOOKING STRONG – Good morning everyone! Sun has returned a little bit earlier than expected as dry air takes over from the north. While we’ll have sun and clouds today instead of drizzle and fog, the drawback will be a cool, northeast breeze. This will give a cool touch to the air today and the sun won’t help much; highs will be in the mid to upper 60’s.

With the gloom pulling out slightly earlier, we’ll also get this transition towards a heatwave going a little earlier as well. Tomorrow, we’ll have mostly sunny skies, with highs in the low to mid 70’s. Winds will switch over from the northeast to the south/southeast as the edge of the ridge begins to drift over the NYC area. This will temporarily bring increasing clouds tomorrow night, winds switching back to the east, then whipping around to the west after a chance of a shower and/or thunderstorm.

We’ll have partial clearing on Friday, especially in the afternoon, highs near 80. Bright sunshine fills the sky on Saturday and low 80’s will spread across most of the area. In yesterday’s forecast, I stated that it’s possible our heatwave may nudge up a few degrees and the signs are starting to show that this may happen. Highs on Sunday will be near 90, and low to mid 90’s are possible all the way to Thursday.

In the intermediate long range, we’ll have to watch for a back door front possibly for the weekend of the 17th, bringing temps back to near normal. However, it looks as if the heat and humidity fight back the week of the 20th. Stay tuned as we will summer build before our eyes to kick this gloomy spring out for good.
