NYC TOASTY SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY AHEAD
NYC TOASTY SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY AHEAD
NYC TOASTY SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY AHEAD – Good morning everyone. Parts of New York City had a little surprise last night with a tornado warning and possible weak tornado damage in parts of College Point and Whitestone in the form of downed trees. Unfortunately, our warning system needs to be tweaked as people living on the south shore of Long Island were told to take shelter immediately; with clear skies above and no threat whatsoever. Hopefully I was able to calm some nerves with a quick and more detailed synopsis on Angry Ben’s Angry Weather at Facebook, but it’s hard to be there every time something like this happens.
Anyway, extreme northeast parts of Queens have some cleaning up to do as we reset the scenario today. Look for humid conditions, upper 80’s, and the chance of pop-up showers and storms again. Just like every other day in this pattern, not everyone will see action and most of it will be concentrated inland. However, just like yesterday, we could get a few to drift this way or pop up over areas away from the immediate shore. The biggest threat will be gusty winds and heavy rain, but as we’ve seen yesterday, you can’t rule out an isolated tornado or waterspout.
We go for a repeat tomorrow, with no rainouts and no widespread action, but muggy 80’s and storms lurking around will be the flavor until hot air moves in for Sunday. For Sunday, the sun returns in a big way and it’ll help launch the NYC area into the 90-95 realm, slightly cooler at the shore.
To start the week, 90-95 conditions continue for Monday and Tuesday, with the slight chance of a storm on Tuesday. It’ll be a hazy, hot, and muggy block, then we await to see if we keep things going without a break in the toasty action. As of this moment, it looks as if we get a slight break and dip back into the upper 80’s, before 90-95 temps come roaring back next weekend. As stated yesterday, even if we don’t end up having a heatwave officially on paper, we are entering a very warm to hot period overall.
