NYC Trough & Coastal System Tag-Team For Gloomy Northeast

Good morning everyone. As expected, low pressure has formed offshore and heading towards Nova Scotia. However, it is close enough, combined with a trough moving through the area, to impact the weather here in the Northeast. Meanwhile, a cool pattern continues and aside from a reprieve here or there, we see no possible relief till mid to late month.

The gloom is here so expect clouds and scattered showers today. An easterly fetch and cool flow from maritime Canada will help hold things in the mid 50’s today.

We get brief break tomorrow, but it’s very brief in terms of sunshine. Cool temps stick around, but sunshine will help get us back into the low to mid 60’s before clouds increase again. That is in response to our next rainmaker. We’ll have the slight chance of an afternoon shower, but the bulk of the rain holds off till tomorrow night.

Rain will last into Monday morning, then we’ll have partial clearing late. Highs remain cool and in the mid 60’s. Things relax a little bit Tuesday into midweek, where we will see some sunshine and 65-70 degree weather.

Overall, we are watching for some possible mild to warm opportunities from next Sunday into the following week. This is a long-shot right now and even if it does happen, it might not last as that cool pattern tries to fight back.
