NYC Very Mild Thursday Ahead Thanksgiving Holiday Travel Problems Possible
Good morning everyone. We have a lot going on and nothing going on all at the same time here this morning. Quiet conditions will grace us till the end of the week, then we begin watching some features on the map to see if they all come together just before Thanksgiving. We’ll discuss that below, as well as a chilly forecast that quickly modifies to near 70 temps once again.
SATELLITE
Chilly air has moved in and with it, some clouds and very light showers for the early AM. Sunshine will return late, but it’ll do nothing to help with the temps. Expect highs only in the mid to upper 40’s today, then we dip into the low to mid 30’s overnight.
Tomorrow we have full sunshine and return to the “seasonably cool” category, with dry conditions and highs near 50.
WEATHER RADAR
Wednesday we begin the climb towards a really nice Thursday, with more sunshine and highs near 60. Dry weather continues onward, but we go unseasonably mild for Thursday with a front-related high in the 65-70 degree range.
That front will pass early Friday and the bottom will drop out from under us. We should get some AM showers, PM clearing; then becoming breezy. Highs will be in the 50 range early, then I believe we begin to drop before sunset. Lows again will sink into the low to mid 30’s overnight.
Looking into next week, we see a few features that are a familiar sight, in January…….A reinforcing shot of colder air, the front lagging behind in the lower Midwest/Gulf States, moisture increasing, and an upper air feature coming out of the Great Lakes region.
What does that mean for us? Well, it’s a little too early to tell right now because we have to see if these ingredients remain close to each other. They’re all things that may happen, but if they happen in piece-meal, you’re looking at a whole lotta nothing, or just your average windswept November rain.
What I do know is that if any scenario plays out, it’ll be most likely BEFORE Thanksgiving, giving us a cool/cold blustery 4 day Holiday Weekend. However, travel may be impacted for those looking to leave for their destinations early.
Stay tuned and we’ll see if things look like there going to play out. So far, I’ve seen a similar feature for the last 4 days and it’s holding. Now we are 8-9 days out, so I’m beginning “the discussion”.
