Quiet Seasonable NYC Tropical Update Southeast

Good afternoon everyone. Things are really quiet in the NYC area, with fairly seasonable conditions and no chance of any organized rain till Tuesday.  Even then, things are not looking impressive and the Northeast remains on the dry side. However, things are heating up ion the Southeast to ring in Hurricane season, and we may in fact be dealing with a strong tropical storm/minimal hurricane as this thing exits the Carolinas and goes out to sea.

We finish up the day with sun and clouds today with mid 70’s. Sunshine returns tomorrow with upper 70’s to low 80’s. Lows overnight will be a seasonably cool and comfortable upper 50’s to near 60.

WEATHER RADAR

Upper 70’s to near 80 grace the area for the rest of the week, with increasing humidity Tuesday and the slight chance of a few showers. Quiet is the theme, but not for the Southeast.

Tropical Storm Alex will be the name once he gets going, and that’ll send a plume of moisture across south Florida is it heads from the Gulf into the Atlantic. Expect heavy, flooding rain, brief tornadoes, and some tropical storm force winds in the strongest of radar echoes.

We wait to see what Alex will do once it reaches the nook of warm water in between Georgia and South Carolina, plus how close it’ll get. It wouldn’t surprise me if Alex reaches hurricane strength, and we will be closely monitoring if some stronger bands rake the SC/NC coast. If so, expect brief tornadoes, tropical storm winds, flooding rains, and coastal flooding.
