SUPER BOWL SUNDAY FORECAST NYC
SUPER BOWL SUNDAY FORECAST NYC
SUPER BOWL SUNDAY FORECAST NYC – Good almost afternoon everyone! Cold air has made it’s way into the area and the air feels icy as cirrostratus clouds veil out the sunshine. Highs today will only make it into the low 30’s in most areas. Tonight, temps drop pretty good as the clouds will clear out and allow radiational cooling, lows in the low 20’s. For tomorrow, we’ll have abundant sunshine, but it won’t help much, with highs again only reaching the low 30’s. Clouds increase tomorrow night as our next system approaches the area.
On Super Bowl Sunday, a weak system will pass to our north, giving us a slight chance of some flurries if the convection is strong where they pop up. If convection is weak, replace the flurries with some light sprinkles. Either way, travel will not be impacted for those going to Super Bowl parties and whatnot.
MID WEEK DISCUSSION
Monday night, a more powerful system takes shape and heads towards the NYC area. This one will have a strong low pressure system gather strength and move into the Great Lakes region. Ahead of it, stubborn cold air will fight it out with a warm front trying to transit over the northeast. For this reason, we should see a rain to wintry mix episode Monday night and into Tuesday morning, before becoming all rain.
Highs on Monday will be 43, which is why anything that falls initially will be rain, but the rain will help cool off the atmosphere, helping a mix ensue. Monday night we see lows drop to near freezing, with snow, sleet, and rain. Little to no accumulation is expected. On Tuesday, highs will rebound into the low to mid 40’s, changing any mix to a plain cold rain by late morning/early afternoon. Temps remain steady Tuesday night as the warm front begins to make it’s final approach, putting us in the warm sector of the system and highs 50-55 on Wednesday with a chance of showers. Cold air returns for Thursday, with sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 30’s.
As discussed previously, as of now I don’t see the warmup some are predicting unless we find ourselves in the warm sector of a system, making for 1 single “warm” day before turning cold again. The beginning to mid February is trending normal to below normal in terms of temperatures.
SUPER BOWL SUNDAY FORECAST NYC – Thins clouds hover over the area and block out the sunshine a bit until later today. Clear skies tonight will make for a cool morning.
Things are relatively quiet radar-wise aside from some lake effect snows and a few showers down by the Virginia and North Carolina border.
