AFTER QUIET NYC WEEK EYES SHIFT – Good morning everyone! This morning, I’ll be discussing a possible system that I’ve been watching for a few days. Model after model shows a large, moisture-laden system coming out of the midwest with some Gulf influence and into our area possibly Super Bowl Sunday/Monday. After a quiet and seasonably cold week, a reinforcing shot of similarly cold air will most likely move in late next week, just in time for this system.

As of now, we’re looking at an over-running situation for the NYC area, with precip possibly starting out as snow, then changing to rain. However, things have been trending colder and a few model runs prior, this system was heading into Canada by the Great Lakes. So we’ll be keep a very close eye on all of the solutions and possibilities as we watch things unfold. The way this winter has been, it could snap back to the original warmer solution, give us a cheap thrill, become a full-fledged storm, or trend itself out of the picture and go out with a whimper. Satellite shows a cold front heading into our area, giving us one more mild (but rainy) day here in New York City. Seasonably colder air moves in tonight.
Showers are in our area associated with our cold front, which should transit through early this afternoon and give us cooler air and gradual clearing.
